Pop Part of Brisbane. (34km N Brisbane) Bayside suburb of Caboolture Shire located opposite Moreton Island and on the bay bearing its name - Deception Bay. . John Oxley in 1823 sailed through and initially thought it was a river. On realising his mistake and because of the shallowness of the water, he named it Deception Bay. Dr Joseph Bancroft was a pioneer in experimenting in the health properties of native plants and also established a meatworks at Deception Bay to investigate the preservation of meat, fish and vegetables.
