Shark Bay is listed as a World Heritage Region. William Dampier named the bay in 1699. In 1858 the whole of Shark Bay was chartered by Captain HM Denham, who carved his name and date on the cliff face at Eagle Bluff where it can still be seen. A section of this rock which collapsed into the ocean has since been relocated to Pioneer Park in Denham. FESTIVALS: Shark Bay Fishing Fiesta, Open Golf (Aug).
