Pop 346. (97km SE Perth, 24km SE Pinjarra) Originally a timber town, this was the only town in the area to survive the perils of the 1961 bushfires. It is now a popular tourist destination and fruit growing area. With the extension of the railway from Pinjarra to Dwellingup in 1910 many timber mills and towns were established, Dwellingup being one of them and the administration centre for the area. It was the only town to rebuild after the 1961 Bushfires. FESTIVALS: Dwellingup Log Chop (Feb), Dwellingup Country Fair and Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off (Apr), Australia's Open Garden Scheme Orondo (May).
