Pop Nominal. (502km N Adelaide). See map on page 08?14, ref J5. Popular tourist venue in the Flinders Ranges, east of Parachilna Gorge. The discovery of copper in 1859 led to the advent of Blinman as a township on the Angorichina pastoral property. A one legged shepherd, Robert 'Pegleg' Blinman, made the discovery, secured a mineral lease and then sold out to a syndicate. In its heyday, the township boasted a population of some 1,000 persons (during the 1870s) but little evidence is now apparent of such past magnificence. ACTIVITIES: Bush walking, Horse riding, Scenic drives.
