The township was named after John Eyrie, an early settler to the area in 1846. Airey's Inlet had been known as a terminus for the Cobb & Co. coach service from Geelong for many years. In 1891 the State Government constructed the Split Point Lighthouse, still a prominent fixture today. The township then developed around this site. FESTIVALS: Artspot - Art Exhibition (Jan), Winter Solstice Storytelling Festival (Jun), Wear Artrageous (Aug). ACCESS: Car via the Princes Freeway via Geelong and the Surf Coast Highway.
