Pop 1,160. (966km NW Brisbane, 302km N Charleville) Blackall is where shearing legend, Jack Howe, set a world record shearing 321 sheep in seven hours and forty minutes with blade shears. It actually took another 58 years before anyone could match his feat and that was with machine shears. Blackall was named after Sir Samual Blackall, Queensland's second Governor, and was discovered in 1846 by explorer Thomas Mitchell.
