Clovelly Beach, at the end of a long narrow bay, has a netted swimming enclosure and is patrolled by life savers during season. The Coastal Walkway traverses this area. Popular local hotel and cafes. An enclosed pool adjacent to the beach on large boardwalks. Home of 'Bluey' the groper. Originally known as 'Little Coogee', Clovelly was formally named as a village in 1914, after a town in Devon, England. Clovelly's long narrow bay was originally flanked by rocky shores. During the 1930s much of the rock was replaced with long concrete quays. A man-made protective reef was laid across the mouth of the bay in 1938. The Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907.
